Giving Back, Locally
Our Commitment to a Peaceful Guest Experience
Why am I seeing humane traps on property?
From time to time, displaced rural animals move through wooded Hill Country properties as development expands in the area. To ensure a peaceful, comfortable experience for our guests, we are working with local animal professionals to humanely reduce and relocate stray cats.
This is a temporary management phase designed to maintain the high standards our guests expect.
Are the animals dangerous?
No. The cats we occasionally see are feral and typically avoid human contact. They are not aggressive toward guests. However, for everyone’s comfort and safety, we ask that guests do not approach or feed them.
Why not just remove them permanently?
We are committed to handling this responsibly and humanely. Our approach focuses on safe trapping, veterinary care, and relocation or placement where appropriate. This method prevents long-term population growth while respecting both guests and wildlife.
Will this affect my stay?
Our goal is exactly the opposite — to ensure your stay remains peaceful and enjoyable. If you experience any disturbance or have concerns, please contact our office immediately so we can address it.
Can I help?
We kindly ask guests not to feed stray animals on property. Feeding unintentionally increases migration and makes long-term population reduction more difficult.
If you have questions about our humane management efforts, our team is happy to assist.
The Barn Cat Project
Our area has experienced rapid development, transforming sprawling ranchland into commercial and residential spaces. This transformation has had an unintended consequence: a surge in the stray cat population.
What were once functional farm cats living in barns have become homeless strays struggling to survive in an increasingly urbanized environment. Rather than viewing this as a problem, we chose to show compassion and create a meaningful solution.
Our Mission
To rescue, rehabilitate, and responsibly rehome stray and abandoned cats through humane practices, while fostering a community that values kindness and respect for all living beings.
- Humane trapping and rescue
- Veterinary care & wellness
- Responsible adoption placement
Our Process
- Humane Trapping: We use safe, humane trapping methods with food and care to gently capture stray cats.
- Veterinary Care: Each cat receives health checks, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and treatment for health issues.
- Safe Housing: Coming Spring 2026: Our new shelter/adoption center provides safe, comfortable housing.
- Loving Homes: We place cats in homes or with farmers/ranchers as working barn cats. No adoption fees.
Our New Shelter & Adoption Center
Coming Spring 2026
We’re excited to announce construction of a dedicated shelter and adoption center on our property coming Spring 2026. This facility will provide a safe, comfortable space for rescued cats while they await adoption, removing them from the park to respect guests who prefer not to see stray animals while also providing the cats with professional care and housing.
This investment demonstrates our long-term commitment to animal welfare and our community.
The shelter will allow us to:
✓ House cats safely during recovery and rehabilitation
✓ Provide professional veterinary care and monitoring
✓ Facilitate responsible adoptions and placements
✓ Respect all guests’ preferences while maintaining our mission
More details about the shelter, including construction updates and ways to support this initiative, will be shared as we progress.
